17th September 2019

The blisters have subsided and we can now almost bear the thought of donning our trainers and making the most of the last of the summer sun.

The beginning of September brought two challenges to the Martin’s Properties team, one gargantuan task of a 100km run, the equivalent of 2 ½ marathons, for Managing Director Richard Bourne. Richard was running to support the Elifar Foundation, a small charity which aims to help improve the care, facilities and equipment available to profoundly disabled children and young adults both at home or in residential care. It is a gruelling distance, much of which is run alone, requiring buckets of mental stamina and Olympian fitness. Richard’s challenge has raised over £10,000 so far – just over £100 every 1km conquered! It is an incredible feet to finish this race. Despite injury and few training runs Richard finished the race with an incredible time of 12 hours and 32 minutes coming 58th out of 1,026 starters.

It was a shorter but much muddier challenge for our team who competed in this year’s LandAid Mudathon. The property industry’s extreme 5K mud challenge – voted the UK’s toughest obstacle course. Martin’s Properties fielded a team of 7 who ran, climbed and crawled through over 100 mud and water obstacles raising money for both LandAid and the Born too Soon charity which raises funds for the premature baby unit at Kingston Hospital.

To make up for all this hard work we will be enjoying a well-earned slice of cake on the 27th September for this year’s MacMillan Coffee morning, please do pop in!
