Christmas gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect on the important things around us. It’s the season of caring, and for businesses like ours, it’s the time for doing a little something extra for people that are most in need. This year, the Martin’s Properties team got together ahead of Christmas to organise two fundraising activities with the aim to raise money and goods for charities that we are passionate about.
Martin’s Properties ran a reverse advent calendar with the aim to collect food and goods for Dalgarno Community Centre’s food bank. On Thursday 14th of December, an estimated value of £140 worth of donations were dropped off to the centre and approximately 60 people were recipients of the food bank that same day. Many people in the UK still struggle to feed themselves and their families, the Dalgarno Community Centre’s food bank, which is run by local volunteers and involves the whole community, gives food to families in crisis. The centre already receives food from local supermarkets such as M&S and the Co-operative, that would otherwise be disposed of as waste. Over 120 people are anticipated to come through the doors of the Dalgarno Community Centre this coming Thursday and people are truly in need for more donations.
On Friday 15th of December, the Martin’s Properties staff celebrated their Christmas day which included a secret santa gift exchange, the christmas party and, of course, Christmas jumpers. Martin’s Properties joined the national “Christmas Jumper Day” initiative in aid of the charity Save The Children. On the day, the team managed to raise £44 which will help pay for blankets and hats to keep 22 children warm this Christmas and winter.
We are very proud of the part we played in these fundraising initiatives and supporting such critical needs. We look forward to the new year, where we plan to take part in many other initiatives, and raise awareness and support for causes we are truly passionate about.
